London Harrington Whipcord Jacket

The Harrington is a style the dates back to the 1930’s.

The list of notables associated with the Harrington Style include: Elvis Presley, James Dean, Frank Sinatra and more recently Daniel Craig/James Bond.

Here in England the Harrington was part of a big youth culture upsurge in the 1960’s with the Mod’s and Scooter Boys. In complete contrast to their bitter rivals the ‘Rocker’ motorcycle gangs in their leathers, mods really cared about how they dressed. Quality was important, styling was king…they had extremely fine and exacting tastes.

The Harrington also became synonymous with Golfing. Not just to look good on the course, but for it’s supreme practicality. It could keep off a shower, keep out the breeze, and be just flung over the golf trolley or tied round the neck and be treated quite roughly, yet look just as good in the club house afterwards.

The Bookster London Harrington Jacket is made from an exceptional cloth; 100% WOOL 450gms Khaki Whipcord from Hainsworth's True Heritage collection. It has a natural elasticity and warmth without being too heavy or bulky. Really comfortable to wear and easy to keep looking good.

There is no denying the origins of Hainsworth True Heritage fabrics, these are very traditional and firmly fixed in the history of Hainsworth and of the Nation. From the creation of Khaki in 1899 to the forming of the RAF in 1917, Hainsworth have been the innovators in the field of Military fabrics.
