Finer Touches 1 - Stitching Detail
Posted by Bookster on 21st Aug 2025
For many years, we chose the style of edge stitching for you. Some cloths with a thick pile or a woolly finish, such as Harris Tweed, are best without stitching, except for sporting or casual jackets where top stitching is an integral feature. On a heavier suiting suit or blazer, no stitching looks clean and classic. For fine, lighter weight suits and jackets, we would choose 1mm Prick Stitch; for mid weight suitings and tweeds, we will add 6mm Prick Stitching. Prick stitching, historically, was painstakingly stitched by hand, and can give a bespoke tailored finish to your garments.
If you would like to specify your personal preference, the bespoke choices are on Bookster’s custom tailoring order forms.
